SHIRLEY WILSON DAVIS

Born and raised in Richwood, Louisiana, Shirley is the youngest of ten siblings, and was instilled with the values of faith, integrity, hard work, and service from an early age. Growing up in the close-knit South Monroe community gave her a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face and the importance of treating every person with dignity and respect. Those values continue to guide her both personally and professionally.

With more than 25 years of courtroom experience, Shirley has built a reputation as a knowledgeable, prepared, and ethical attorney. Throughout her legal career, she has handled more than 5,000 cases, argued hundreds of motions, and tried numerous jury and bench trials involving criminal, family, juvenile, and civil matters. Her legal work has taken her before District Courts, Louisiana Courts of Appeal, and the Louisiana Supreme Court, providing her with the breadth of experience necessary to serve effectively as District Court Judge from the very first day.

But Shirley’s qualifications extend far beyond the courtroom.

She believes that justice begins with serving people before they ever step inside a courthouse. Throughout her career, she has volunteered her time through Ask A Lawyer, participated in free legal clinics, taught educational classes for senior citizens on wills and estate planning, supported the Good Samaritan Ministry, served in local soup kitchens, and actively participated in community outreach efforts. Her commitment to public service reflects a belief that everyone deserves access to information, compassion, and justice.

Her faith has also been an important foundation in her life. As a devoted member of Philadelphia Word Church, Shirley has served as Past President of the Women’s Ministry and as Co-Moderator of the Couples Ministry, helping strengthen families and encourage servant leadership within the community.

Shirley is a proud graduate of Ouachita Parish High School, attended Richwood High School before its closure, continued her education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University), and earned her legal education at the Southern University Law Center.

Family remains at the center of her life. She has been happily married for more than twenty years and is the proud mother of two children and grandmother of two grandchildren. She is the daughter of the late Richard and Margarette Jones Wilson and remains deeply connected to the Richwood community where her family’s roots run deep.

Those who know Shirley know her as someone who prepares thoroughly, listens carefully, treats people fairly, and leads with integrity. She understands that every case represents someone’s life, family, future, or freedom—and every person deserves to be heard with patience, impartiality, and respect.
